Sandra Kimbrell Livermon
Since the age of fifteen, Sandra has dreamed of writing a book. But high school activities took precedent, and then at college with all its academic and social demands. Shortly thereafter, she married. Her life was busy with husband, Jim, and their two children. She started her own construction company and spent over twenty-five years as a licensed building contractor and design consultant. Later she added motivational speaking to her resume. Her life was full, but one thing was missing. She still hadn’t written that book.
Then one summer day, while sitting on the beach with her daughter, Katherine, Sandra started talking about a story that had been materializing in her mind. The more she talked, the more excited she became. “Do it, Mom, do it now.” Her daughter urged. And so, it began.
The process has been complex—exciting, frustrating, nerve-wracking, compelling and so very rewarding. She traveled to Europe and spent a month researching locations and absorbing the atmosphere and feel of where the story would unwind. At stories end, she was more than hooked, as more and more stories rolled in her head. Her desire to write, to tell a story is understandable. As a child, Sandra remembers her two aunts who visited often and held her spellbound with their endless stream of stories. Her Dad was a storyteller too, often entertaining anyone in earshot.
Now, whether Sandra is at her desk at home, at a game table overlooking the ocean at the beach, or simply jotting down ideas on the back of an envelope, Sandra is writing. “There are so many stories to tell,” she says and smiles. Then she goes back to writing.
